as the product of a warbride i can say this about the influence of war, i would not be here if the USA did not occupy and we did not hang our traitors, Davis & Lee, we did not hang Hirohito but we did hang Taiju so it's interesting idnit
i just heard three lectures in a row about the great rebellion after watching the PBS experience of REL which i have to say was trying to say he was a racist which is not necessarily true, and then we get to the ranges of the racism and the legalish analysis what did the USA and the CSA have the same, what different, what was the range of politicaL radicalism? and to this day, we have this speech being given how the upper class of The South were old school noblemen and thus they all died, their entire legacy was wiped out in 4 years and it was not all bad and why was it not all bad/ well i guess we have to get into the whole theory & practice argument
and Lee's discussion of discipline among the rank & file was based on the scarcity of goods and what they went without and how a rebel horse got 2 lbs of feed a day and a yankee horse got 20 lbs and shit like that and segue into a discussion, if we can please just put aside the supremacy thing which is very hard to do because it is the only audience he had, and this whole rewriting history thing has been sitting with me, the inevitability part of it and how he sacrificed Pickens who though so ill of him was it the same guy? i mean could it have been? is it possible? because then we see it's like John Calvin that secret inner core of vindictiveness which i will have to google for because i am not sure if what i am thinking is true
still i do think better of him than most people and one of the lectures was about the monuments of the great rebellion and what were the myths and what were not and this contrasting of opinion and my notes i have no idea how my notes go /// dang and i have this new backslash thing going on with my pinky how did that happen? i have zero idea but things are shaking loose i think footnotes might be the key* not * and those editorial stars coming in threes for the charm
* * *
and here it is then my notes on my afternoon of history lectures and much much was said about Lincoln and this last division of Rebel as many many many things and what would that look like if we had that and is it better and Obama was not a socialist and they called him that and the radicals whist that he was but he is not and the coup d'etat which has been gradually and escalated to the point and it has to do with the whole money thing which seems more important than legislating freedoms but they want to take them away! and that's so interesting to me... the side that is defending their own rights wants the rights so that they can take them away from their own people and this sense of control
so it's very strange
the experience of being property and the experiencing of giving people complete autonomy and the gratitude that kind of trust would instill in them and what was missing from the dialogue was how much of it was coercion and the whole Haiti as the beacon and the black cloud at the same time is just really a shining example of the use of allegory which is an actuality and reminded me of iceland
* * * anyway here are my notes
brass rank from the top down
the rebellious have no bootcamp
the military culture flows from the bottom up
from the core belief in slavery <<< this one is difficult to understand
a whole hearted allegiance to the spirit of honor , means you have the courage to take responsibility
self indulgence were acceptable modes of confidence
elevating the individual over the group
CIVILIAN values carry over in a rebellion ... sharing the same fundamental beliefs secession
honor/ overarching concept
manhood, integrity, integrity, indpenednce valor and esteem
luxury and generoisty
QUALITYS no discipline, squandering, rich profligacy acceptable modes of conduct
tolerated and encouraged
not unbecoming... violence /
discipline meant that others imposed their code
voluntary not compunction .... no domination allowed
wonderful motivated soldiers
promoted resistance to discipline
diminish their value within a troop
HOW TO HANDLE LIMITED RESOURCES? PRETEND LIKE IT'S FAKE.
SPLENDID but TOO SLOW ... undecided/ takes too long to conclude /
THE truth is he is not with us at heart, a common man, his good looks? and too cautious for revolution
PICKENS is an idiot
after the first campaign... 20,000
reactions were as if he had done a monstrous blunder
they "howled"
critic in the confederacy
conducted by a general never fought a battle, horror of guerillas, depends on exclusive ... victory without the cost of life ... dirt dauber/ small insect that leaves a soiled trail in its wake
satirical sketch spyglass & spade recoinoitering to retreat a little and throw up fortifications that instant he set eyes upon them... to exhibit his CAUTIOUS POLICY
to oversee defenses to chief military advisor ... his traits of mind would prove more problematic
may god in mercy protect us
Katherine Edmondston NC >>>>>>>>> a diarist
looking at original source work / he is too timid, believes too much in masterly inactivity finds his strength too much in sitting still
McClelland rejoiced. i prefer him... Lee is too cautious and weak under ... personally brave and en ergetic to a fault he yet is wanting in moral firmness and likely to be timid and irresolute in action <<<< PROJECTION .... exactly describing himself!

the state of feeling in the country and the communications received by the soldiers urging them to abandon their position
ultimately the army did not collapse because Southern losses
winnowing the way for what was no margin for error to begin with
the demoralization was a consequence not a cause .... a clerk Confederate / 1861 / in Richmond / he wondered what it meant

SIMPLIFY THE REBELLION
CONSTRUCTION OF MONUMENTS / turning the past into a set myth, a set lesson that we can immediately to stop thinking about history rather than start...
schepticism turning the static myth into open
block/though ...no way to begin with them
kernal truth/// open them up and turn them into discussion then we don't just dispel myths
GOLD is not truly valuable.
the right values is what it will sell for
to have a discussions about ?rather than have kind of fixed answers
BOOKS TO READ / follow - up / recommend to think of as very good
the beginning QUOTE
ROLLAND LAMBART
he is trying to find a language that is not mythological ? the language of human as a producer wherever he speaks to transform relation no longer to preserve it as a language, myth is impossible
to not turn it into something
how we make sense of hx ...
the biggest one! IT'S REALLY JUST WRONG / my background is in Nazi history / holocaust / the earth is flat / and they keep saying it again and again and denial and denial /
STATE'S RIGHTS MYTH /// chronology beginning
6 NOV 60 / expected to take office on 4 MAR 61 / first Republican / 56 didn't win / ABOLITIONISTS
former Whigs / antislavery Yanks
even before Lincoln took office / secession began / SC Florida ms al La GA & TX / before Lincoln was President ? NOT MY PRESIDENT
CSA begins.
FEDERAL FORTS ARE NOW OURS. DEMANDING THE PROPERTY.
WOW THAT'S WHAT THEY DID TO THE EPISCOPALIANS / AND WON FOR A LITTLE BIT
JUST BEFORE LINCOLN TOOK OFFICE / BOMBARDMENT / ON DAVIS ORDERED FIRE!
WVA actually seceded from VA. What are you thinking? The whole reason you're a State that's the reason you're NOT in the CSA.
ALL THE LITTLE NATIONS ACTING INDEPENDENTLY - so it's not a myth
difference of opinion on tariffs / importing or exporting / this thing is the State of Right
the Right to Secede
The Right To Abolish slavery was lost / they did Lose that Right. so that means that it was what they were PROPONENTS / opposed to States Right / legally (Constituationally USA property) only in some States but recognized outside / related to the Fugitive Slave Act / that person would still remain "enslaved" recognized as property / that Law was recognized by obligation / legislated as within the realms of The Constitution
proponents were seeking to decreases
DO WHATEVER YOU WANT BUT PEOPLE COME HERE ARE NOT FREE TO KEEP OUR SLAVES .
EXCLUSIVELY TO PROTECT SLAVERY / the cornerstone 21 March 1861
the were AGAINST States Rights / all the agitating questions are determined , the proper status of the slave within our civilization
the Constitution rested upon the equality of races / exactly the opposite, our foundation is the great truth that subordination is a natural and moral condition
PRETTY HARD TO SAY THAT IT WAS ABOUT STATES RIGHTS / as pointed a statement can be made / it's not only about slavery / but importantly, not even attempting to justify it but simply to codify it
very wealthy people owned slaves / why the question would be? why did millions of people support the CSA / hope of upward mobility / also / the psychic wage a feeling of being you kow if they are part of a slaveholidung society but at least they're not slaves (white & free) a psychic boost ! a poor man's fight / rich man's world
proslavery yanks and abolitionist rebeLs
Eastern was iun rebellion against the Confederacy and parts of Arkansas ... joined the Union even / as WVA in common places without plantations / large white poor often rural working class / those with no economic interest people did support the CSA
The SOUTH started the War. The North was attacked.
There were people in the Republican party on both sides of abolition, in every state, in every army and REBELLION STARTED THE WAR - SECESSION STARTED THE WAR / they did not recognize the North /
THE NORTH DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ITSELF AS THE NORTH BUT AS THE WHOLE , part of the whole, .... see that they attacked the whole.
that's a very good question ? from the perspective the attack on the federal government was in SC ... official line ... this is not a WAR this is a rebellion / against FEDERAL AUTHORITY
it began with Southern aggression / the war of Northern aggression began with the Southern aggression ... USA could have recognized the RIGHT of CSA STATES (to existed) and it began the war
opposed the extension of slavery into new states
what they wanted to do about slavery was not clesr / moral question
where it already exists / legal private property / the republicans were very radical and working class 7 not rich / we do not approve of slaves but we approve of amassing property /
what are they going to actually do about it / global warming and sweat shops
definitely a threat to EXPANSION
i disagreee / james oakes / freedom national / the arguments that the republicans planned on ending slavery from the beginning and prevent it from expanding / and it would necessarily disappear
the intent was END IT
from the beginning
by seceding did not plan on expand
economic indictors did not need to
a debate / a good debate / not an obsolete myth / it's a good argument and worth having
four slave
missouri, maryland, kentucky and DELAWARE d
if they didn't go to war to end slavery in the South / MYTH / common again gets in the way of a debate but worth addressing
#2 LINCOLN IS NOT THE GREAT EMANCIPATOR
1860 nomination / not seward or chase < treasury / abolitionsts
1876 memorial not particularly radicaL FREDERICK showed up but didn't like him /
a moderate has a better chance
i have no purpose to interfere / i believe i have no lawful right to do so and no inclination to do so / strategic temporalizing / part of a strategic denial / i tend to believe Lincoln/ did he evolve / yes but not silent meditation ... people were saying evolve! please!
except where the states are in rebellion /he is quite explicit /we have to immediately end it now ? no matter what he said they thought he was RADICAL / not the case / they believed that THE MYTH a very important role / in a couple of ways <<<WE SHALL SEE IN THE HISTORY OF THE CIVIL WAR
reveals much about the early strategy / FREMONT 1856 Republican presidential candidate
1861 proclamation that said: EVERY PERSON HELD AS A SLAVE BY A SECESSIONIST IN MISSOURI IS HEREBY FOREVER FREE //// Lincoln countermanded that and dismissed him finally because he refused to/ 1864 / challenged not a Nader did withdraw/ important to think about
WHAT ARE WE REALLY FIGHTING FOR?
for Lincoln once he started Emancipating / for people in the secessionist state / not because slavery is no longer uinconstitutional, no, it was because they were at war
wartime measure
justified as war
not because slavery is suddenly no longer Constitutional
OBAMA ... from the beginning people on the far R saying Radical Socialist
L saying I WISH he were radical socialist //// sounds familiar?
another important point about that ... NOT A DICTATOR / who ended slavery?
NOT EMANCIPATION! that was strickleigh in the CSA
i hereby make Single Payer Health Care cannot happen / / /
Henry Halleck / McClelland / defeat secession / may have supported maintaining slavery where it already exists / they had less success on the battlefield, not interested in
EMANCIPATION / the biggest ally in the south were the slaves / not interested in working with McClelland / once they figured out where he was
GLEN BRASHER - Peninsular Campaign / tour guide at the battlefield site / showed how McClelland would not rely on scouting/ local slaves were not included / McClelland wanted to leave Southern Society and its institutions
had he been someone other than McClelland he would not have been so part of the social structure / not individual decisions / structure verses decision /
Less tires establishment were more sympathetic / not concerned about the protetions afforded by the constitution / fremont / butler / democrat / it's aren't all proslavery / massachusetts / a Labor radical / Fort Monroe hung onto near Hampton VA / okay so let's say we have to recog consittution/ property / at war we don't have to allow them to keep their supply sso he defined slaves as contraband /
recog as property, nominally /legally/ nonetheless (at least for the duration of the war) THEY ARE FREE.
FORTRESS / actually important early space / the slaves fled to Fort Monroe / came up with this clever policy / local slaves escaped / freed themselves / a lot of danger got to safety
WON SLANG FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE FUGITIVES ? CONTRABAND CAMP / kind of weird some radicals didn't like contraband as a term THEY're NOT prop / it's WRONG / good Legal FICTION allowed for emancipation / effective
foreign born Generals / Carl Scherz / the famous one Franz Sigel / a friend of Marx / really COMMJNIST / league / text / many others / didn't care about private property / didn't care about the Constitutional protections / including slaves
no sense that they were going to follow orders
handing out guns to slaves saying free yourself
forcibly disarmed throughout the army against the conservative policy
POLITICAL
military history of the civil ///// clowns / incompetent / radicals /
conservatives wanted to delegitimzed / were not incomptent / commanding troops before they came to the USA 1848 / could pass all the tests ///
start with the perspective of The Commanders and take their /// judgments as facts /// skill as soldiers?
on-going research / did Grant & Sherman learn anything from the German / interesting paradox / racists against slavery / Sherman was considered BARBARIC //// radical attack on slave property //// not a stalement / major and decisive feet / McClelland & Halleck would not respect for radicals .
stereotypes about Africans / no opinion/ historians have found Shaundra Manning
When This Cruel War is Over out of Georgetown //// first hand / wow this is horrible/ they turned against it from empircal experience even if it had nothing to do with them... seeing and the experience of all the help that soldiers go from slaves telling them what they need to know found great cooperation
what role did the CSA play / not much /// it's a massive scale of war / both sides CSA & USA needed everyone supporting the war / CSA is fighting to perpetuate slavery! wut People don't really want to be free. The big question ... CSA needed to rely on the slaves who were it's strongest enemy anywhere.... throughout the war a little bit, too late, in other colonial contexts/ Haitian revolution / france/spain/england/ if you serve then you will be free
Slaves were given freedom for fighting for the British army? not under
slaveru CORNERSTONE of the CSA /// freeing the slaves to win The Confederacy / tried to conscript / none volunteered at the end / none served in the CSA army no way they were allowed to serve until close to the end
There were black soldiers fighting, there were definitely, slaveholder familys would bring their personal servants / this was not regiment of black soldiers
the social structure of the csa was based on slavery/ so possibly impossible to win / they enemy within
csa emancipation bruce levine ... the two line version of ...
stephanie curring / CSA reckonynge / no way they could have gotten the slaves on board / the patriarchial norms were especially strong / female could not be there/ the structure was predicated on excluding girls / the tragic flaw / cannot be overcome
it did happen to be there but not because of it , it is the support
not a revolutionary but the head of a veryh constrained federal government, that is where he was political, not chastising
where was his moral? / against slavery / not against racism / not socially equal / convinced /
thought that way
WHAT PART DID THEY PLAY? it was about their freedom .... the myth was incredibly effective / it may have been / ways of getting to this /
people who heard that? that's good news! LINCOLN ELECTED !
people fled / they withdrew labor / they gave covert support / scouting/ spying/ supplying/ fighting while it was still illegal / heroic actions against command CSA in MO
segregated with white officers / 10% at the end Colored Troops PICKETS are a role infantry fighting / snipers? memorial at U Street Station
official and unofficial actions of slaves fighting the war
coming to the conclusion given especially the reluctance to interfere it was the slaves themselves that forced The Union to participate in the abolition ...
W. DuBois greatest account 1935 Black Reconstruction in America //// it's long and you can read selected chapters and they're all good substantiates self-emancipation
without the efforts of slaves The Union probably couldn't have won anyway
so that's important
provocative
HAS SLAVERY ENDED IN THE USA / totally abolished 13th Amendment / reads: ...neither slavery nor involuntary servitude except as punishment whereof the party shall be duly convicted of a crime ... where there is jurisdiction / ratified 1865 / made up crimes/ arrested planters were renting people that they had owned / a major exception that continued force labor in The South
2012 The Guardian / you have to work / you work outside of prison you get .50 /hour
Slavery. Michelle Alexander / the new Jim Crow / a Law professor / that she traces to the JimCrow the Age of Segregation ? it would be anywhere like the atrocity of lifetime bondage and all of their descendants forever / what was defeated was major and extremely important
the last question i was going to ask
WHEN DID THE CIVIL WAR END? MAYBE NEVER
Is it about UN-FREEDOM / massive concentrations of property lording it over others
Informal militia / police force / prison / it continues as a struggle against a lot of kinds of oppression/ not to mean we haven't made enormous progress
it is premature that it is not over
Between The World & Me / africans are still threatened / kept in a kind of personal danger andc precarious / not equivalent to slavery an affront to individual freedom / part of the fight of the civil war / struggles for freedom won the war continue / UNITED not the terrible side, we're all in this together / social transformation
WHY DID THEY DO THIS MORE PEACEFULLY... Haitian rose up/ overthrew colonials, and ostracized and attacked by every other country in the world.
Europe had serfs. Not as treated as prop to the same extent. Held in bondage and force to work nonetheless prussia it ends on Napoleonic occupation / it would only take place
1861 / there it ended a comparative case / the landlords did everything they could to not have Land Reform / all kinds of revolution in the country side through 20th century .... always some kind of violence with abolition
British did not have the same level of war. Lincoln would have been glad to do. The government compensated them. Leading to 1865 uprising in Jamaica. Not really an answer /
important question.
to get the other slave states to secede... they will do a Haiti on US / once that happened people knew about it / it worked / someone did it! this one worked. one of the strategic problems in the 1850s and before, how do we make that work here /
Different situations.
How can we do the next battle of Austerlitz? Something like the Haitian revolution that works?
The constitutional right to secede. They did not.
?????? why not just set them free/ let them secede!
STATES WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SECEDE FROM THE CONFEDERACY.
The North had too many State's Rights! Fugitive Slave.
starts with defense of Union / had trouble raising troops to end slavery / that's what people got outraged by / these slaveholders think they can mess up our union? against The Southern slaveholders themselves /
the war changed
casualtys ... and after the war / GARRISON after the war /
why do we want to even be part of this / let them go!
like CANADA was!
the military history / monday morning quarterbacks / worthwhile / strategy for actually on-going problems.... had The North taken a more revolutionary tactic/ support Tubman & Brown / The South was too big to have a major uprising.
The North would not have to be what it was. Lincoln was horrified by John Brown.
No official support for uprising or being allowed to take place.
THE POSSIBILITY of avoid the whole Civil War. <<<< LET THEM GO!
soldiers saw the evil first hand?
WORKING CLASS PEOPLE /// DID NOT TRUMP OTHER KINDS OF SOLIDARITY ////
AT LEAST WE'RE NOT SLAVES
//// KEEP THEM OUT OF THE NORTH BECAUSE OF THE SWEAT SHOPS ////
?????????
they never imagined The South was going to enslave them !
Q: WHY DID THEY ALL GO? AT THE RISK OF DYING JUST TO KEEP THE SOUTH FROM SECEDING
they went because of Patriotism / the last great hope / if things don't go well / states can secede and if they do , then it's oVeR ... worried about invasion from Europe?
One possibility / nephew of Napoleon / Louis / plan to create a circumcaribbean empire / mexico/ csa / cuba? / not necessarily ruled by France but slaveholders and LatinAmerica/ we're French we're Latin too /
unfreedom is not good at all
NOT FORCED TO FIGHT
ALL VOLUNTEER
WHY DID THEY SECEDE?
BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO HE INDEPENDENT!
WHY DID THE NORTH INVADE? This question is suppressed. Can an honest answer be morally attractive? To negotiate division into two federations. The answer gives mute testimony?
it is important to understand that the CSA took The original Constitution which they dearly loved. What did they REFORM on it. What are they trying to avoid? What are they trying to gain?
INHERITED TO INCOMPATIBLE
JEFFERSONIAN and LINCOLNIAN / timeless symbols
Lincoln was a Hamiltonian?
antiFederalists before Jefferson
stripped of the essentials the division is constitutional
Jefferson / compact between sovereign states / foreign treatys e.g., / state reserve all others powers /
nullification is the rightful remedy of federal usurpation / could lawfully secede if it is a sovereign political society
Lincoln flatly denies that the States are or ever were sovereign political society
plenary power of central government over The States
(Lincoln explicitly says that in one of his speeches.)
Can The State nullify The Fed? and lawfully secede?
THE STARK DIFFERENCE
Jefferson dominated from 1776 to 1861 / that America WAS America / The Lincoln ian division came to rule only after the rebellion.
What was The South fighting for?
Jefferson's election was The Revolution of 1800 / the best way to prevent tyranny is to limit the central government's power to raise and spend money / that's where the problem is / earlier the antifederalists believing the same urged denying the power to tax for the fed and left to The States / as the champion, he abolished all in-land federal taxes and he succeeded / until 1860 we never paid any Federal taxes / politically they were prevented from imposing those taxes / they could but they did not /
urged reformed a lawful way to impudate debts by
he sought to get the central govenrment out of debt. Jackson in 1835 destroyed the bank of the USA / the equivalent of destroying the FED today / for the first time we were out of debt until 1861 / easily managed the mexican war / only 65 million / less than the total expenditure /
on the eve of The Rebellion it was less than 2%
today it is around 40%
spectacular shift / a consequence of The Rebellion / defeated Jefferson?!?!?!?!?!
there had never been anything in the world like Jeffersonian //// modern states are self centralizing, they grow / Jefferson diminished centralization //// uniquely / The States were quite frugal in tax and regs. / in 1869 Florida paid more for printing than the cost of the govenrment itself in 1860 / annual session in LA average $100,000/year /// Reconstruction they averaged R1,000,000/year
1860/61 enjoyed more individual and political liberty than any people of the world before or since, free of fed debt ... fear of large standing armys / no fear of monarchy because the state militia controlled the military / frame the consitutional rule , a wide distribution of economics to afford citizens
rig the rules to effect central economics ... uniting central government / chartered banks / politburo... what is the price of money? intended to be a large scale crony capitalism ... it's a very good thing if you're part of it /// good for nation, good for the kingdom but it is still crony capitalism //// suppressed by Jefferson / the program largely in place by 1860 /
Wealth equal to Europe. Even distribution. LIteracy rate was the highest. Youth going to college. A model to imulate. f
SWITZERLAND changed its Constitution to States... and went further denied the government any original taxing power... 26 states / a nation of nation / 18,000 to about a million / average 300,000 even today Swiss can only tax wtih time/rate limits
outside that/ the power to renew the taxation power would require majority on both popular and state votes
Switzerland is a Jeffersonian outpost surrounded by monarchys.
ANother is CANADA. The peaceable kingdom to our north. They have the constitutional right of state nullifcation and secession. Nullify any civil rights? OPT OUT. Everyone has a right to public referendum at taxpayer expenses.
How did Canada get these rights. Judah Benjamin. Sec of State. fled to England, became Barrister for Canada before the imperial court, as a result / State's Rights were placed into Common Law / both wrote books on Hume / Jon Stewart / the south having lost the war in USA had been won in Canada / nullify & secession can be discussed / WHAT HAPPENED TO QUEBEC? didthey have a referendum
THE NUMBERS IN GOVERNMENT ? The South wrote The CONSTITUTION
THE SOUTH provided most of America's political and moral Leadership.
76 - 61
S 9 presidents 5 two terms / N 6 and O
first 64 years , 51 years were under Southern presidents
SOUTHERN STOCKHOLM SYNDROME Michael O'Brien - refutes the Myth of The Redneck /
Robert Fogul Stanley Ingam econ old South Time On The Cross: whtie souther agriculture was more productive /// plantation more productive than either //// 4th largest economy in the world /// 1830 railroad The Best Friend of Charleston 136 mile and the largets railroad line in the world / pretty backward 1861 The South had more railroad than anywhere in the world except for The North / the authors argue that Slaves increased production but through promotion and pecuniary / overseers were probably slaves / some planters left management of the entire plantation to slaves /while the owner took the money
Ben Montgomery ? managed Davis brother / land surveying/ architecture, invented steamship but denied patent because he was a slave / and when he was not a slave / Davis tried to get it for him. CSA allowed it.
per capita income / 12 highest annual were all in the South / hightest Mississippi 2000 /Connecticutt $700 NY $570 / Arkansas was $880.
Frank Alsly / more educated than any other part of the world / 1 student for every 247 / in the north 1 for every 703 / nearly 3 times as many as did in the North, but not the black/ Wellesley first charter to given women advanced degrees
University in Carolina more books than Harvard ... the lending library had more books than the college library / central government actually diminished / Jefferson / carried over to CSA /
tempation
REFORM to bind themselves against crony capitalism
CONTROL OF MONEY /// one and only one item, no pork / no earmarks having nothing to do with the purpose of the billl / funding was PROHIBITED / all projects were for The State / spending money for the means of commerce but reimbursed by user fee /// no cost overuns /// a line item veto and a single 6 year term / checking the rise of Hamilton / The Federalist
any state can impeach on Federals working in their State /// any 3 states could initiate a Constitutional amendment 2/3rds instead of 3/4ths /// state would have the final say not the supreme court / 9 politically well connected Lawyers / powers reserved for The States/ based on it's own Alice in Wonderland reading of the 14th Amendment
reading the entrails of sheep
The New Right
States can enter but 2/3rds //// annex is a mere majority //// this is destabilized // new minority and majority / it is a stupid rule /// it can be
consider Texas/ the treaty failed in the Senate.... nope ... that would have been a good thing / it cannot control it's border with Mexico /// it would have been a good thing to leave it A Lone State ha
National Election is the remedy to Tyranny
can serve as a remedy if the people are adequately represented the national level what is the proper ratio/ one rep for every 30,000 pop increased and reps increased by 1910 / 435 is the cap / where it is today
1910 92 million 320 million 1/735,000 which is a meaningless ratio /// even the words there might even be /// the quality of representation diminishes... how many representatives would there be //// we would have 10,500 members in the house /// is that too big? does this mean that Madison was wrong? is USA too large for purposes of self government?
HOW ABSURD is our current ratio/ If that were used by the first congress / there were 4 million /// there would have been 5 members in the house and 8 states would have none
Congress decided that a joint resolution would be sufficient. The measure passed by 2 votes in the Senate. Seen as a The Southern grab for power. Adams urged secession.
the quarrel was the western territory
NO CHECKS ON POWER / the SIZE AND SCALE OF PATRONAGE IS DIFFICULT TO EVEN COMPREHEND
FREE OF TAXES / CSA & ENHANCED PREVENTED / PERFECTED OR ENHANCED //// THE THEORY COULD NOT HOLD UP THE INSTITUTION ???? and it tops out! economist Larry Pilitof says "the USA is in worse financial shape than any country in the world" the scale of the corruption
GDP combined 72 trillion / 1/3rd of our liability if Ferguson and Pilitof are right ////
DRACONIAN
again one can regret the equation with bigotry / it's like the Nazis / divide you go this way / you go that way / St. Peter / and deserving / and what we think we deserve / and what someone else thinks you deserve and whether or not they have the power to punish and whether or not someone will attest to the just deserts
how can we separate them white supremacy from liberalism WOW!
wild
Hamilton is the bad guy! Who will believe it?
When you drop the idea of supporting social justice and just look at the ability to be free.
THE UNFREE seem to be pushing for their own autonomy but they are really saying let's give everyone a better chance at being powerful.

right now i think the Swiss example really shines, what if we left the entire slavery issue out o fhte nation what would it look like and there we have it as it really is in real life and how it kept them ot of the great war and the position of power, what did they call it, fortified? and Lee would attack anyway which was not wise/ and had to do with his West Point ignorance of the calibre of the rifle can that be? still i didn't know that he was all about "digging in" but his officers called it slaves work

The Bombing of Sendai
my mother said the bombing was incessant and they went about their school home work routines, schoolmates disappeared, then there was no school, still they had to study because state exams were coming, and with the carpet bombing of Sendai they went to the rice paddys to avoid the fires and her brothers stayed behind and put out cinders on the rooftop they were lucky they had stone walls around their garden and their homestead, in the meanwhile the moms and the children in the paddys pretended like the bombs were fireworks ooo and aahh
kind of like we pretend being drunk is celebrating

can you relate to us?
- Hear Ye, Here Ye; I have said the same thing yet again in yet another way. If you are unlucky enough to understand what I am saying, then please do not read it. ,

Jane
meditation is the direct perception of objectivity- talk about a shift
- 7:50 AM
- when are we not what is? when we can see it for what it is like how astronauts look down at earth and think why do people kill each other? there's enough for all of us ...
- 7:52 AM
- the thought that everything is what It is and we are experiencing It at the same time a part of It, this seems to leave no field for us to be together in although it can be found
- 7:56 AM
- in fact, we can't really see It until we find a field where we are Us and It is seen for the first time as It is
- not experienced
- experience means we are a part of It
- It keeps Us from being Us
- is It true?

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH
the grief of The Parents is why we need to keep The People alive
it's the same everywhere
studying the causes of war — "To us it is incomprehensible that millions of Christian men kill and torture their brother, the very image of The God" (fortunately for them the Christians don't seem to mind its being incomprehensible, they shrug and say that's the way it is, oh well... next!
— the fact that The Pentagon takes orders from The White House means that at least on our end we are paying these people like the Maytag repairman if they do nothing but wait for Congress to declare war
so people argue that war is a push to give a soldier someone to kill
since that is what they are trained to do
the killee is not important
it is a career decision
and therein lies the problem because on both sides the killees are very very important to their loved ones, if fireman can wait for a fire, then soldiers can wait for a war and in the meantime, we can have them go on peace corp missions which are sadly underfunded and difficult to be enlisted into and we can go help those poor people who need so much so much so much more than more family members losing their entire lives because of someone elses career and we have the resources to do a great deal of good on that front and let's all brainstorm, what would make Christians stop hating Islam? Because whatever it is, it's the same thing that will make them stop hating us.
I am reminded of the family feud in Huckleberry Finn

Nakanomiyo
on the first day of the year, and here it is a year later and she is here!
momma san has fabric in her blood because she is like tamikochan,
she's got nakanomiyo blood
and that's why my grandmother was the way she was
and why my mother is the way she is
oh please oh please
and they bow in Japan
i don't know if they bow as much still
but why would they stop?
so there is this thing called culture
and i can hear it in her songs
as angry as she was
she really did think she thought it was us
and now she looks back and she knows
it had nothing to do with us
how could we have created so much passion
or maybe because we were all hers
just us three
it was completely about us
but not knowing why we were so discourteous for example maybe
and not knowing how to translate her heart into English for us to know her
she said so recently
i wish you knew japanese
isn't that funny and sad
i feel i am learning so much
every day
about the world
and today in the movie, MenInBlack
he's talking to NYPD and he says
"You know what people are like..."
and they still do
at least i know they bow at the planes
which seems nice
like a prayer
and i felt like my prayer was keeping the tire from blowing up
and that was the way it was
but i didn't know it
i didn't know what it was
i thought it was bending steel
and i suppose in a way it was

we going to do with her?
i was never a mean
person. everybody liked me. i don’t think any one single person can
dislike me i was just easy going and they all know i was very independent and if
a bunch of girls wanted to i would say you go and have a good time
everything i do , i did right, and i was never be mean or
nasty, i don’t think one person i was like that mean and nasty. i never said anything to my gfs my mother can
tell you, i just smile and walks away and mumma would have to explain, she’s
tired or this or that, and they would say maybe tomorrow we come, we had a plan
you know i was really independent but
i was never mean and everybody liked me ... at my age i can say its like brag
but i can say...
they say he is an overgrown child, Joesan, but a nice one,
good heart. He always looked through the
bookcases and whatever he says he writes down and he has beautiful handwriting. Showing my family. I think he was a pretty smart boy.
He painted those pictures.
When you kids go back there, you kids were cute. They thought was so happy go lucky all those
children happy and funny and playful.
They know Joesan is a little-bitty child i said what do you mean little
bitty child he’s an overgrown kid. My
mother shakes her head. You shouldn’t
say something like that about your own husband.
I said it is different than your husband, how could you know what not to
say?
no mommasan no no no she’s lying
momma knows it’s true.
she can look at me and know. she
says i can just see kathy and karen and patty they was just kids, and i can see
how you did a good job, just one look at em, and Joesan he was just a good
husband.
i don't why i got it
